ETRN

ETRN is typically used by mail servers such as Microsoft Exchange, which handle mail for a company or organisation who connect to the internet using a dial up PSTN or ISDN connection.  This connection must have a fixed IP address.  Hosting UK can supply a fixed IP dial up connection if required.

General instructions

The mail server for ETRN requests is : relay.hostinguk.net

Your mail server should send the following command: ETRN domain where domain is your domain name, for example:

ETRN hostinguk.net

would de-queue all mail for the domain name hostinguk.net and attempt delivery to the server listed for that domain.

ATRN

Works in a similar manner to the ETRN method described above except the collecting server can have a dynamically (not fixed) IP address and must specify a username and password.
