Updating your web site using FTP

This assumes you are using an FTP client

1)  Start your FTP program. 

2)  In the site address section enter ftp.hostinguk.net OR ftp3.hostinguk.net as the site to open.
(it will depend on which server your account is on - this will have been advised in your set-up e-mail.)

3)  Enter your username and password (as supplied in your set-up e-mail) and connect.

4)  Once logged in you will see three directories:

pub, incoming, and webroot.

The Webroot directory is where you should upload your web pages - the webroot directory is exactly what it's name implies - the exact root of your web space.

The PUB and INCOMING directories are general directories that are available to everyone.

When you log in you should also see a 4th directory named SECURE

This is the location to place files on our secure server.
